Seattle’s Best Coffee was formed in 1970 as an ice cream and coffee shop in Seattle. The founder, Jim Stewart, bought green coffee beans and roasted them for sale in his Wet Whisker coffee bar. Following the sale of The Wet Whisker two years later, Stewart founded another coffee shop and, by 1983, Stewart and his brother had opened three more shops and changed the name of the company to Seattle’s Best Coffee after winning an award for serving Seattle’s best coffee.

The company has undergone various purchases and acquisitions, eventually being bought by Starbucks in 2003. Seattle’s Best is less expensive than Starbucks and the coffees are sold in coffee shops and grocery sub-stores in 20 states across the US. A 12-ounce cup of Seattle’s Best coffee contains 260 milligrams of caffeine. Keep reading to learn more!
